NASSER INTERNATIONAL LEADERSHIP FELLOWSHIP CELEBRATES ALUMNUS BUBA FATTY ON APPOINTMENT AS COUNTRY REPRESENTATIVE FOR GLOBAL PEACE – THE GAMBIA
Cairo, Egypt / Banjul, The Gambia – The Nasser International Leadership Fellowship proudly congratulates its distinguished alumnus, Buba Fatty, on his appointment as Country Representative for Global Peace – The Gambia.
Buba Fatty is an accomplished accountant and certified Conflict Management Trainer of Trainers with extensive experience in mediation, negotiation, and peacebuilding. He received advanced training from the African Centre for the Constructive Resolution of Disputes in Johannesburg (2022) and Pretoria (2023), South Africa. He is also an alumnus of the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre, where he specialized in Conflict Analysis and Mediation, and a certified Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) practitioner trained by the African Centre for the Collaborative Resolution of Disputes.
He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accountancy from the University of The Gambia and has gained valuable professional experience through his work with the Gambia Press Union.
A passionate advocate for peace, Buba was among the pioneering conveners of the Global Peace Intergenerational Dialogues, organized in consultation with the Office of the UN Secretary-General’s Advisor for the UN@75 initiative. He has remained actively engaged in advancing peacebuilding efforts across Africa and globally.
Between August 2023 and December 2025, he volunteered with Peace Hub The Gambia, promoting the Youth, Peace, and Security agenda, and contributed to the Insider Mediation Project implemented by the United Nations Development Programme in The Gambia.
Demonstrating exceptional leadership, Buba served as Interim Chairperson of the YALI Alumni Association – The Gambia Chapter from September 2024 to January 2026. During his tenure, he led a team that successfully facilitated the formal registration of the chapter and convened its first-ever Annual General Meeting and Elective Congress since its establishment in 2016.
He is also an alumnus of the Young African Leadership Initiative and has held key leadership roles within the International Model Diplomats for Integrated Development (IMDID), serving as Finance Secretary of its Strategic Council and Secretary-General of its Gambia Chapter.
The Nasser International Leadership Fellowship commends Buba Fatty for his continued commitment to leadership, peacebuilding, and sustainable development. His appointment reflects the Fellowship’s mission to empower young leaders to drive positive change within their communities and beyond.
