President Gamal Abdel Nasser's visit to the Gaza Strip - March 29, 1955
He stated in his speech:
Brothers, I said after the last incident and the last attack on Gaza, that I will not speak anymore, after I blamed the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces. However, on this occasion, I would like to say: I will never forget, we will never forget the plots to eliminate the arab nationalism in Palestine, so that we will never forget it, and if you, people of Palestine, have considered it directed to you, then we, the people of Egypt, consider it directed to us as well.
We must turn to the future to protect our nationalism, our nationalism that they were able to penetrate, and to remove from it the Arab nationalism and Arab nationality, and to replace it in a part of the beloved Arab land with a strange nationalism, a strange language, and strange races, and strange races.
These conspiracies will not end, but they are still operating as they were decades ago, and we in Egypt are standing by, and all what I ask you is that you should be patient and work, and all I ask from the Arab nation is that to take jews as an example, and to take lessons from the Jews, and do not talk a lot, but work and unite while preserving our nationalism.
This is what I would like to tell you, and may God bless you and protect you.
