The Ministry of Energy and Water Resources of the Federal Government of Somalia has officially announced the appointment of Ms. Iman Ahmed Farah as Director of Communication and Public Relations. A prominent member of the Nasser Movement – Somalia Branch and a 2025 graduate of the Nasser International Leadership Fellowship, Ms. Farah brings a distinguished blend of global leadership experience and institutional expertise to this key role.

This strategic appointment underscores the Federal Government’s commitment to strengthening transparency, enhancing public engagement, and modernizing government communication systems. Ms. Farah’s selection reflects her proven ability to lead effective communication strategies and align institutional messaging with national development priorities.

Strengthening the Link Between Communication and Development

In her inaugural statement, Ms. Farah emphasized the critical role of communication in advancing Somalia’s development agenda, particularly within the energy and water sectors, which are fundamental to economic recovery and long-term stability.

“Communication today is not merely a tool for conveying information—it is a cornerstone of sustainable development,” she stated. “My priority is to strengthen institutional communication frameworks to ensure that the Ministry’s work is delivered with clarity, transparency and impact. We aim to enhance the role of media in supporting humanitarian and development efforts in a way that resonates with the Somali people.”

She further highlighted the importance of fostering regional and international collaboration, noting that her experience through global leadership platforms will support stronger partnerships across sectors.
