The Chadian leader, Mohamat Haroun, the coordinator of the Nasser Youth Movement in the Republic of Chad, and a graduate of the Nasser Scholarship for International Leadership, was elected as a head of the Human Resources and Information Technology and Communications Authority in the Economic and Social Council of the African Union. This came during the elections that took place yesterday evening in Kenya’s capital, Nairobi, after he won the unanimous support of the representatives of African countries in the Council to represent Chad for the next four years in this authority.

In the same context, the Human Resources and Information and Communication Technology Authority contains four sections; (Education, Information Technology, Youth, Human Resources, Smart Technology Science). The Economic, Social and Cultural Council is considered an advisory authority of the African Union aimed at investing the expertise of civil society organizations and enhancing its voice through advice inside African Union institutions and decision-making processes in order to transfer the Union’s objectives, principles and policies into effective and tangible programs.

It should be noted that the Nasser International Leadership Grant was launched in July 2019 as an African grant. Coinciding with Egypt’s presidency of the African Union, Chad was one of the first participating countries. After their graduation, they established the national branch of the Nasser Youth Movement in Chad. In four years, they have been able to launch numerous youth programs, community initiatives, and training courses. Among their training courses is the training of 1,800 young men and women, in 6 regions, including “ Absha” and the Middle Shari “Saar,” Hadjer-Lamis “Massaguet “ and Batha “ Oum Hadjer”, in addition to the capital
“N ‘Djamena”. Nasser Youth Movement team also received direct praise from the President of the Republic, Mohamed Idriss Deby, during their participation in the Chadian National Youth Forum. They made about 44 recommendations, foremost among them is the adoption of the National Youth Strategy and their participation in decision-making positions.
