Anniversary of Somalia independence

On this day, Somalia gained its full independence in 1960, as the British and the Italians established colonies in Somalia in the late 19th century. The British-controlled part was known as British Somaliland, and the Italian-controlled part was known as Italian Somaliland.
In April 1960, the Legislative Council of British Somaliland passed a resolution in April 1960 requesting independence, and the legislative councils of the country agreed to this proposal. Italian Somaliland united with British Somaliland and formed the Republic of Somalia which gained independence on July 1st, 1960.
Egypt and Somalia have strong brotherly relations throughout history, and Egypt was one of the first countries to recognize Somalia's independence in 1960, and provided it with support in various fields after the independence.
