The 54nd Anniversary of The Independence of The Kingdom of Swaziland

On this day, the 6th of September from the year 1968, Swaziland gained its independence from Britain. Since the eighties of the 19th century, the aspirations of the British and Dutch to control  Swaziland and their desire to acquire the metals and gold in the country had begun. In 1902, a battle occurred between the British and the Dutch, in which the British won and took control of Swaziland.

Swaziland’s move towards independence began with the adoption of the country's first constitution in 1964, and Britain handed over power to the Swazis in the year 1967 and Swaziland gained its independence on September 6th, 1968.

It is worth mentioning that the King of Swaziland Mswati III decided in 2018 to change the name of his country to "Eswatini" with the celebration of his 50th birthday, which also coincides with the 50th anniversary of Swaziland's the independence.
