Nasser Fellowship Alumni Speaking at the United Nations Youth Forum in New York

Young activist Yassine Fathali, a graduate of the Nasser Felllowship for International Leadership and the national coordinator of the Nasser Youth Movement in the Republic of Tunisia, represented the Sidi Hussein Youth Association and served as the Tunisia office director for the Bridges Youth Organization, speaking at the Youth Forum of the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). The forum was held from April 16 to 18, 2024, at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.
During his speech, Fathali highlighted the role of the Nasser Fellowship for International Leadership in empowering young leaders from various countries around the world. He emphasized that it is a genuine opportunity for networking and international cooperation at the youth level, providing a space for dialogue and self-expression among different nationalities. He encouraged young leaders present to follow the fellowship platforms and register for its fifth edition, particularly African leaders and talents from the Arab world, affirming that it is one of the mechanisms for sustainable development and South-South cooperation.
Fathali also showcased the activities and events of the Nasser Youth Movement in Tunisia, which are carried out under the supervision of the Sidi Hussein Youth Association and the Bridges Youth Organization. These activities support peace and promote development goals in Tunisia, in addition to striving to provide opportunities to develop youth solutions to accelerate the implementation of the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals.
In a related context, Fathali explained that this year's forum discussions were guided by the ECOSOC's 2024 theme on "Accelerating the 2030 Agenda and Eradicating Poverty in Times of Multiple Crises: Effective Implementation of Sustainable, Resilient, and Innovative Solutions." The discussions revolved around the Sustainable Development Goals under review at this year's High-Level Political Forum, which include eradicating poverty, eliminating hunger, climate action, peace, justice, strong institutions, and partnerships for achieving these goals. The forum brought together youth with representatives of governments, youth delegates, policymakers, and other stakeholders in civil society and the private sector to share their recommendations and innovative ideas in preparation for the Future Summit to be held under the auspices of the UN General Assembly in September 2024.
It is worth noting that Nasser Fellowship for International Leadership Fellowship is an annual program organized in Cairo since 2019. It includes discussion sessions, workshops, field visits to key national institutions, and sessions with decision-makers, diplomats, and parliamentarians. Four cohorts have been implemented so far, with a total of approximately 590 young leaders from 90 countries worldwide. The fellowship aims to transfer the Egyptian experience in institution-building and youth empowerment, under the auspices of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, President of the Arab Republic of Egypt.
