Nasser Youth Movement Participates in the Closing Ceremony of the Anti-Fascist Youth Congress in Caracas

The Nasser Youth Movement participated in the Closing Ceremony of the Anti-Fascist Youth Congress, held this November in Caracas, the Capital of Venezuela, in the presence of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro.

President Maduro made a heartfelt speech during his meeting with the attending delegations, highlighting the history of struggle in Latin America and the importance of unity among the peoples who suffer from colonialism and oppression. Furthermore, he referred to the symbolism of Venezuela’s eight-star flag, representing freedom and struggle, and holding the memory of revolution and resistance. He stated, “This flag was the symbol of liberation armies that overthrew the colonial empire that controlled our land for over 300 years.”

Maduro added: “Today, we commemorate the struggles led by the Venezuelan people and the Global South as a whole. Every drop of blood shed for freedom has become part of our shared history. We are the children of hope and resistance, and today we are on the path to building a future of dignity and justice.”

The president continued: “Today, we honor the memory of the free nations who stood firm against colonialism, imperialism, and fought for freedom. We draw lessons in resistance from the struggle of Mandela, the voice of Lumumba, the courage of Samora Machel, the thought of Frantz Fanon, the resilience of Cuba, the legacy of Fidel and Che, and the great Algerian revolution. These revolutions taught us how to dream and how to achieve our dreams, no matter the challenges.”

During the event, the youth participants congratulated President Maduro on his birthday, with festivities including traditional dances representing diverse cultures from around the world, and reflecting genuine solidarity among the peoples of the Global South.

President Maduro concluded the ceremony with a motivational speech addressed to young people worldwide, emphasizing the importance of standing united against injustice and continuing the fight for social justice. He called for building a new generation that carries the message of peace and cooperation among nations.

For his part, anthropologist Hassan Ghazaly, founder of the Nasser Youth Movement, praised the Venezuelan president’s speech, expressing his admiration for the profound liberatory perspective it carried, particularly in its discussion of the shared struggle against colonialism. He highlighted how the speech represented a powerful message to the youth of the Global South, emphasizing that solidarity among us is the only path to achieving a better future, free from the forces of fascism and hegemony.

Ghazaly further elaborated on the Nasser Youth Movement’s vision for this solidarity, describing it as a genuine call to mobilize this momentum among youth across the Global South. He pointed out that the conference serves as a sincere invitation to continue carrying the banner of justice in international relations and to foster dialogue among peoples striving to change reality and shape a better future.

He emphasized that the Nasser Youth Movement views these gatherings and events as opportunities to strengthen solidarity among the youth of the Global South and to work harder to carry this liberatory spirit in tangible actions through joint initiatives with other youth movements in the region, which aligns with Egypt’s aim of leveraging international conference diplomacy to convey a clear and authentic image of the developmental progress in our beloved Egypt.

The delegation of the Nasser Youth Movement included several young leaders, among them Dr. Mohamed Ezz, a researcher in political sociology; journalist Mohamed Gamal, a member of the movement’s international media team; and activist Baha El-Din Ahmed, a graduate of the Nasser Fellowship for International Leadership. All of them emphasized the importance of solidarity among the peoples of the Global South and its profound impact on deepening youth awareness in the face of current challenges.
