Youness Aaouni, a youth graduate of Nasser Fellowship for International Leadership, the third batch, participated in the twenty-second edition of the National Film Festival in Tangiers, which is organized under the high patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, in the presence of Moroccan figures from 16 to 24 September, 2022.

Youness’ participation came by presenting the activities of the official opening and closing ceremonies of the festival, during which his talent and abilities he acquired in cultural revitalization and his strong presence on the stage emerged, which was praised by all the attendees and grabbed their attention.

The Moroccan Minister of Youth, Culture and Communication, Mr. Mohamed El-Mahdi Bensaïd, attended the ceremony. During his statements, Minister El-Mahdi stated, “the National Film Festival in Tangiers is returning again after a break of more than two years due to the epidemic, and it is an opportunity to evoke the spirit of the artists who left us after years of artistic giving, as well as the role of the ministry.

In his speech, Bensaid indicated that since the appointment of the government and the ministry, it has been working to strengthen this field, "which it considers very important to provide new job opportunities and create real wealth in the film industry, in particular and culture in general, because the latter is considered in most countries among the strongest industries."

It is noteworthy that the festival witnessed the influx of a large number of artists and cinema people. The program of this session included three competitions, the first for feature films, the second for short fiction films, and the third for long documentaries. The jury of this edition distributed, during the closing ceremony of the festival, 19 awards within the three mentioned competitions; the awards range from the festival’s Grand award, production award, jury award, first work award, directing award, script award, first female role award, first male role award, second female role award, second male role award, photography award, sound award, Composition Award (Editing), and the Original Music Award.

The festival program also included the "Film Market", a space dedicated to discussing issues of cinematographic distribution and exploitation in the era of digitization and new forms of presentation and distribution, in addition to professional meetings to raise topics of interest to the reality of national cinema and the prospects for its development, and to present the cinematic outcome for the years 2020 and 2021; in addition to other parallel activities.

The National Film Festival is considered a national cinematic phenomenon in the Kingdom of Morocco of an artistic, cultural and promotional character. It seeks to promote the development of Moroccan cinema and encourage the work of professionals in the sector, as well as provide a space for meeting, interaction and exchange of experience and cinematic experience.
