"Dalia Abdullah" Shares her first literary translation at the Cairo International Book Fair
Dr. Dalia Abdullah, a graduate of the Nasser Fellowship for International Leadership, participates in the Cairo International Book Fair with her first Arabic translation of the Italian novel "Quel maledetto Vronskij" by renowned Italian novelist Claudio Piersanti. Published by Rizzoli in 2021, the novel was nominated for the prestigious "Strega" literary award. The Arabic version is available for Published by "Logha" for publishing Language Publishing and Distribution Pavilion, Booth No. 2, Hall No. 15, during the book fair, which commenced on January 24 and is scheduled to continue until February 6, 2024.
Dr. Dalia Abdullah, both a writer and translator, holds the position of Assistant Professor of Contemporary Italian Literature in the Department of Italian Studies at Ain Shams University (Cairo, Egypt). She has taught various courses in the Italian language and literature undergraduate program, serving as the Head of the Program Design and Development Department at the Faculty of Alsun. Dr. Abdullah has received numerous awards and honors for her intellectual and literary contributions, including third place in the 2019 Da Vinci International Literary Competition and the 2017 National Literary Award "Carlo Levi" for the best academic thesis on Carlo Levi's literary work.
It is noteworthy that the Nasser Fellowship for International Leadership launched annually since 2019 in June, began as an African initiative during Egypt's presidency of the African Union. Over the years, it expanded to include Asia, Latin America, Australia, Europe, and Africa, producing around 490 young leaders from approximately 90 countries globally. The Fellowship aims to transfer the Egyptian experience in building national institutions and empowering youth, both locally and internationally.
