After a strong competition, Amira Sayed, presenter of the Global Citizen Program and a member of the international media team at the African Youth Bureau,  becomes the first Egyptian woman to receive the African Union Media Fellowship. It is worth mentioning that 800 media professionals  applied for the fellowship across the continent; it was Amira who was  selected among the top 15 media professionals to join the first media fellowship launched by the African Union.

Amira Sayed started her career as a journalist in the Egyptian Gazette newspaper, during which she covered many conferences inside and outside Egypt, including the World Youth Forum in Sharm El-Sheikh and the Global Partnership Summit in India. She also conducted many interviews and press interviews with senior officials and diplomats from all over  the world, among them: meeting with Ève Bazaiba Masudi, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Environment and Sustainable Development of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and a dialogue with Her Excellency Ambassador Namira Negm, President of the African Migration Observatory, in addition to her meeting with Mr. John Kerry, the US Presidential Envoy for Climate, as well as her dialogue with  Stanley Johnson, father of the British Prime Minister. 

Amira Sayed was also selected as a member representing Egypt in the World Youth Parliament for Water, and a speaker in a workshop entitled “Water Security in the wake of Climate Change” within the framework of the activities of the World Youth Forum in Sharm El-Sheikh 2018. Moreover, she participated as a representative of Egypt in several international forums. Most notably was  her participation in the Africa Continental Summit in Niger 2019 under the auspices of the African Union. During this summit,  she was awarded the title of "Young Ambassador of Peace" as the first Egyptian woman to receive this title. Recently, Sayed became  a  representative  of the World Youth Parliament for Water  in a session held by Egypt in the framework of preparations for the COP27 (2022 United Nations Climate Change Conference).  These consultations aimed to launch an initiative that supports adaptation measures in the water sector. 

In 2020, journalist Amira Sayed was chosen as broadcaster of the “Global Citizen Talks”.  Launched by the Ministry of Youth and Sports - African Youth Office, This program is the first English-speaking youth program  which aims to support the concept of unity and global participation. It is a program sending inspiring messages to the world’s youth from Cairo, by presenting the experiences of globally successful youth.  During the program, Sayed hosted a number of decision-makers and global figures specificalized in many fields internationally. 

The Egyptian Amira Sayed was born in the village of “Al-Atwani” in Aswan. In 2007 she graduated  high school with the  fourth highest grades all over the Republic.  In 2012 she entered the Department of English  Language, Literature, Translation, and simultaneous interpretation (DELLSI), and graduated  with honors in 2012. Because of her love of journalism, which she inherited from her parents, she studied translation at the American University in Cairo (AUC).

 It is  worth  mentioning that the AU Media Fellowship is now being held in Germany.  Within the framework of this fellowship, the Egyptian journalist Amira Sayed conducted a video report from inside the presidential palace, in addition to covering the speech of German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier during her meeting with him.  She  met  Claudia Roth, Minister of Information and Culture of Germany.  During that visit she also met Patricia Espinosa, Executive Secretary of the United Nations  Framework Convention on Climate Change. 

Thus, Amira Sayed represented  Egyptian women in international forums in  a unique,  extraordinary way , reflecting a global citizen with firm roots, striking on the earth with horizons soaring to the sky.
