"The Holy Qur'an radio station in Cairo"

The anniversary of the establishment of Quran radio station by order of the late leader Gamal Abdel Nasser.

As far as the listeners’ consciousness are attached to the angelic voices that the Holy Quran Radio station broadcasts, the phrase “The Holy Quran Radio station in Cairo” has stuck in the minds of the entire Arab world since the late President Gamal Abdel Nasser ordered on March 25th, 1964 to launch the Holy Quran Radio station, the first radio specialized in religious media in the Arab and Islamic world.

This came in response to a distorted copy of the Qur’an, a gilded edition of the Noble Qur’an, with expensive paper, and elegant output, which appeared in the early sixties of the last century, containing malicious and intentional distortions of some verses of the Holy Quran. To protect it from distortion, Abdel Nasser ordered the recording of the entire Holy Qur’an, “The Recited Qur’an," so  that it can be distributed to the Islamic world, and the reciter Sheikh Mahmoud Khalil Al-Hosari was the first to recite it, and the first version was released with the narration of “Hafs aan Asim”, and this was the first audio collection of the Holy Qur’an after its first written collection during the era of the Caliph of the Messenger of God, Abu Bakr As-Siddiq.

Indeed, the experiment proved successful, and there are audio versions in the Islamic world of the most famous Egyptian reciters, including the reciter Sheikh Muhammad Siddiq Al-Minshawi, the reciter Sheikh Abdul Basit Abdul Samad, Sheikh Muhammad Rifaat, and Sheikh Mustafa Ismail, with three readings, including the edition “Warsh aan Nafi’” and the edition "Hafs aan Asim.” The Holy Qur’an Radio station was broadcast daily from 6 in the morning until 11 in the morning, and from 2 in the afternoon until 11 in the evening, i.e. an average of 14 hours a day.
