Mostafa Magdy... A Young Egyptian Leader Bridging Strategy and Action in Youth and Development Work

Mostafa Magdy is one of Egypt’s most prominent young figures who has made a significant impact in public policy, youth development, and institutional work both domestically and internationally. Since his early engagement in public affairs, he has served as an inspiring model of a young Egyptian leader capable of balancing strategic vision with practical execution—backed by a strong academic foundation and broad field experience.
Since September 2024, Magdy has served as Assistant to the Minister of Youth and Sports for Strategic Affairs and Information, and also heads the Policy Formulation and Business Analysis Department within the Ministry’s Policy and Business Development Unit. He is an active member of the Coordination Committee of Party Youth Leaders and Politicians (CPYP) and part of the Technical Secretariat for International Bilateral Youth Councils, making him a key player in shaping Egypt’s youth policy landscape.
He has been instrumental in organizing Egypt’s largest hosted sports tournaments, serving as Secretary-General of the Permanent Committee for Volunteer Management at major sporting events. His leadership contributed to youth mobilization efforts for events such as the Handball World Championship and the Africa Cup of Nations. He also serves as a Board Member of the National Youth Platform, and is the official Focal Point for the Ministry of Youth and Sports* within the *Shabab Balad* initiative—a UN-led youth development platform supported by Egypt’s Ministry of International Cooperation—underscoring his growing national and international influence.
Academically, Magdy is an Adjunct Teaching Assistant* at the College of Management, Technology, and Computer Science at the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport. He also sits on the Board of the Egyptian Esports Federation, where he chairs the Planning and International Cooperation Committee, and serves as Secretary of the Board of Trustees of the *New Administrative Capital Sports City, as well as General Coordinator of Egypt’s National Youth and Adolescents Strategy.
Earlier in his career, Magdy worked as a Strategic Planner at the Egyptian National Competitiveness Council, where he analyzed international competitiveness indices and participated in the Steering Committee of the Egyptian Forum for Youth Employment Support in partnership with the International Labour Organization (ILO). He also contributed to the Public Financial Management and Fiscal Decentralization Project, and played a key role in developing strategic plans for multiple ministries including Education, Culture, and Planning.
His early path was shaped by active student leadership: he was President of the Cairo School Students Union, head of the Student Council at the Arab Academy, and a member of the Executive Office of Egypt’s National Student Union. He also participated in the Interfaith and Leadership Dialogue Program at the University of Cambridge through the Young Peacebuilders Forum—a joint initiative of Al-Azhar and the Archbishop of Canterbury.
Internationally, Magdy represented Egypt at the World Government Summit in Dubai (2019) and the Arab League Summit in Tunisia (2020). He holds a Project and Operations Management Certificate from the University of Central Lancashire (UK) and is a graduate of the National Defense College at Nasser Higher Military Academy.
