AfroMedia initiative

Afromedia is a new initiative aiming at changing the negative image of Africa through educating and training the Egyptian journalists and media people. It also aims at changing the negative image some African journalists carry towards Egypt through training and education.
The initiative seeks to become a bridge between the Egyptian people and the rest of the African peoples through showing the efforts of Egypt in developing Africa and through highlighting the African face of Egypt.
Afromedia also aims at coordinating efforts between the concerned parties to study and organize the message the Egyptian media conveys about Africa. This will happen through supporting the true mental perception towards Africa inside the state apparatus which is what the political leadership under the presidency of his excellency president Abdelfattah strives for.
The importance of the initiative came through the Arab African youth Forum which was held on the 16th of March 2019 where the president gave directions to use media forums and social media to wipe the bad image of Arab African relations.
Afromedia also played a role in the actualization of the outputs of the Seventh International Forum for African Journalists and Media Men which was held in March 2020 under the title “ the Future of African Media … Opportunities and Challenges.” In this forum the president of the African Media Peoples , stressed the importance of redrafting the African media discourse to fit the technological world leap. The Arab League stressed the importance of the media in strengthening Arab African ties as well as the importance of increasing societal awareness about the challenges facing development in Africa. The Council of Arab Ministers of Information stressed the importance of highlighting Africa as the future world continent.
President Sisi met with a delegation of prominent African journalists and media men representing 25 African countries on March 12 , 2017. They participated in a workshop that was arranged by the Egyptian Partnership Agency for development. The event was attended by Mr. Sameh Shukry the Minister of Foreign Affairs. President Sisi stressed the pivotal role of the African Media in increasing the awareness with the different issues of the continent. Also, to push forward joint African action and highlight common challenges. This will make the media reflect the pulse of the African peoples and express their hopes and aspirations. The president concluded by stressing the keenness of Egypt to host such forums aiming at strengthening communications between African journalists in a way to serve development and progress in Africa.
