World Malaria Day

World Malaria Day

Every year on April 25, the countries of the world celebrate the World Malaria Day, where the spotlight is on global efforts to combat the epidemic.

World Malaria Day was first held in 2008 in Africa, an event celebrated by African governments since 2001, it served as a time to evaluate the progress towards goals aimed at controlling malaria and reducing mortality in African countries. In 2007, at the sixtieth session of the World Health Assembly, a meeting was held under the auspices of the World Health Organization (WHO). It was proposed to change Africa Malaria Day to World Malaria Day, to recognize the presence of malaria in countries around the world, and to raise awareness of global control of the disease. Every year, April 25 has become an internationally recognized malaria day, that highlights global malaria control efforts and celebrates the gains made. Since 2000, the world has made historic progress in the fight against malaria, that saved millions of lives.
