International Mother Earth Day
International Mother Earth Day
On the 22nd of April the world celebrates World Earth Day which aims to spread awareness and draw interest to the natural environment of planet Earth. This day reminds us of the importance of our environment and its preservation along with its living creatures, especially during the conditions our planet is going through. It also reminds us of the importance of striving to support a healthy, safe and stable environment. World Earth Day dates back to 1969 when the American Senator, politician and environmentalist Gaylord Nelson came up with the idea. Subsequently, his assistant Dennis Hayes, an environmental advocate, established The Bullit Foundation which started celebrating that day for the first time in 1970 and made it international by celebrating it in 1990 in 141 states.
