Nasser Fellowship Committee Member becomes part of the ICIJ

On the occasion of the World Press Freedom Day, a member of the Academic Committee of the Nasser Fellowship for leadership wins membership in the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ).

The International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) has announced the selection of journalist and international trainer, "Mohamed Zidan," as one of twenty top journalists from 18 countries around the world, to join the network of ICIJ members. The consortium includes approximately 290 members from about 150 countries.

The young journalist, "Mohamed Zidan," has a career in investigative journalism and media training that spans over fourteen years of hard work, including his work as a journalist in many local and international platforms and newspapers, as well as an advisor to the International Center for Journalists. He has also received many international awards. In 2012, he participated as a founding member of the investigative journalism department of Al Watan newspaper, and he has made many contributions to various investigative files, including his work in the Pandora Papers project, the largest cross-border journalistic project in history, in 2021.

It is worth noting that journalist Mohamed Zidan participated in training participants in the Nasser Fellowship for international leadership on "The Role of Media and Journalism in Conflict Areas" during the third edition of the Nasser Fellowship for International Leadership in June 2022, under the slogan "Non-Aligned Youth and South-South Cooperation," with the participation of 150 young leaders from 65 countries around the world.

In a related context, Hassan Ghazaly, founder and general coordinator of the Nasser Fellowship for international leadership and Movement, stated that the Nasser Fellowship was keen to put the file of media in all its forms on the discussion table during the fellowship's events over the past editions, where many issues were discussed, including "the role of media" with the presence of Dr. Meral Sabry, the former dean of the Faculty of Economics and Political Science at the University of the Future, Ahmed Essmat, the president of the Alexandria Media Forum, Mahmoud Mamlouk, the chief editor of Al-Qahera 24 website, Omar Mustafa, the director of digital development at Al-Fanar Foundation, in addition to a session entitled "Values and Principles of Media and its International Impact" with the presence of Dr. Ashraf Sobhy, Minister of Youth and Sports, Ahmed Galal, the chairman of the board of directors of Akhbar Al-Youm Foundation, Ali Hassan, the chairman of the board of directors and chief editor of the Middle East News Agency, and Eyad Abu Al-Haggag, the chairman of the board of directors of Dar Al-Tahrir Foundation, and it was moderated by the renowned media personality Nashaat Al-Dhahhy. He emphasized that these sessions, discussion circles and workshops were based on our strong belief in the importance of media as a mechanism for rallying support around development strategies and plans, as well as a voice expressing the people's opinions, and a soft power that can have a positive or negative impact, locally and internationally.

It is worth mentioning that the Nasser Fellowship for International leadership has received media sponsorship from the National Press Authority as part of the preparations for the fourth edition, which is scheduled to be held in June under the patronage of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.
