The Ministry of Youth and Sports organized, this Thursday evening, the inauguration ceremony of the late leader Gamal Abdel Nasser’s Fellowship for International Leadership- the third batch, organized under the auspices of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, with the participation of 150 young leaders from non-aligned countries and friendly countries, which will be held during the period from May 31 to June 17, 2022 at the Engineering Authority House, in Cairo under the slogan “Non-Aligned Youth and South-South Cooperation."
The opening ceremony of Nasser Fellowship for International Leadership, in its third edition was moderated by the media Mohamed Turk, in the presence of Dr. Ashraf Sobhy, Minister of Youth and Sports, Ambassador Amr Moussa, member of the African Union Committee of sages, former Minister of Foreign Affairs and former Secretary-General of the Arab League, Dr. Mostafa El- Feki, the chair of bibliotheca Alexandrina, the advisor Ahmed El- Manaa, the Secretary-General of the House of Representatives, Ambassador Ihab Badawi, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs, the journalist and the writer Karam Jabr, head of the Supreme Council for Media Regulation, Major General Ismail Al-Far, Executive Director of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Dr. Mahmoud Hussein, member of Parliament and Chairman of the Youth and Sports Committee in the House of Representatives, and Dr. Abdullah Al-Batish, Assistant Minister of Youth and Sports, Mohamed Hassan, Assistant Minister of Youth and Sports, Hassan Ghazali, General Coordinator of the Nasser Fellowship for International Leadership, in addition to a group of members of the House of Representatives, Senate, ambassadors, community figures, politicians, media professionals, university chairmen, leaders of the Egyptian state, the coordination of youth parties and politicians, leaders of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, and representatives of partner bodies.
The activities of the opening ceremony of the Nasser Fellowship for International Leadership, in its third edition began with the national anthem of the Arab Republic of Egypt, then a video was shown that included the most prominent activities of the fellowship from the first to the third batch. Then, words were heard from some of the participants in the Nasser Fellowship for International Leadership, in which they expressed their happiness By being in this international Fellowship and the great importance it represents for them in terms of getting to know different cultures and information about different countries and gaining new experiences, skills and new friends. Then, Dr. Manal Rostom, the first Egyptian woman to climb Mount Everest and the ambassador of Nasser Fellowship for International Leadership, in its third edition, dave her speech about that title that was given to her by the Minister of Youth and Sports and the Nasser Fellowship for International Leadership.
In his speech during the opening ceremony of Nasser Fellowship for International Leadership, in its third edition, Dr. Mostafa El-Feki, President of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, indicated that Nasser Fellowship for International Leadership had brought back to our minds the years of close relations between Egypt and the third world countries from the years of glory, the years of national liberation and the national dream, directing salutations to the youth from the various continents participating in this fellowship, and he consider this important fellowship as the fruit of a humanitarian intellectual project of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi at all levels and fields, especially during the presidency of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic of the African Union, which had important and several impacts at the African level and Egyptian level, and wished all success and luck for Nasser Fellowship for International Leadership, and that Egypt would remain a leading country in all eras and fields.
For his part, Counselor Ahmed Manna, Secretary-General of the House of Representatives, at the beginning of his speech, expressed his thankfulness to Dr. Ashraf Sobhi for his invitation to attend the opening ceremony of the Nasser Fellowship for International Leadership, in its third edition, which is a rich experience for young people towards the globe. Manna welcomed the youth leaders participating in the Fellowship from all participating countries, stressing that the Egyptian political leadership pays great attention to youth, as the attached interest to young people in Egypt is not only witnessed in the House of Representatives, but also there is a great support by His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic in establishing the National Training Academy, which is a pioneering experience and a pioneering opportunity to train young people and gain various experiences Which is reflected greatly on the performance of young people in various bodies and different places within the Egyptian state, which will extend to make a great leap in all of society.
At the beginning of his speech, Ambassador Ehab Badawy, Assistant of the Foreign Minister, expressed his happiness to participate in the opening of the third edition of the Nasser Fellowship for International Leadership, organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports under the auspices of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, congratulating the Ministry of Youth and Sports headed by Dr. Ashraf Sobhi Ali for this event Which includes a large number of the world’s youth. Badawi explained that the fellowship comes under the name of an eternal African, Arab and Egyptian leader who has given a lot and played a pivotal role alongside a number of world leaders, the late leader Gamal Abdel Nasser, who inspired many generations in various parts of the world, and laid the principles of international relations. The assistant of Foreign Minister, Ali stressed the great role of leader Gamal Abdel Nasser in establishing the Non-Aligned Movement and forming its principles “Bandung Principles” among great leaders from other countries and stressed also Egypt’s commitment to the principles on which the Non-Aligned Movement was founded, which included respect for basic human rights, respect for the sovereignty of countries and their territories, and the adoption of the principle of equality among all countries and the right of each country to defend itself individually or collectively.
At the beginning of his speech during the opening ceremony of Nasser Fellowship for International Leadership, the journalist and the writer, Karam Gabr expressed his thankfulness to Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, Minister of Youth and Sports, as he searches for the treasures of the past and extracts the best from them to be a starting point for the future, and with the support of youth, this will contribute to moving from the stage of political struggle to economic struggle and empowering African and non-aligned youth to obtain their just and legitimate rights, he considered Nasser Fellowship for International Leadership a nucleus for the return of past glories regarding the great Egyptian role in Africa, which is what makes us proud of the glories of our fathers and grandfathers.
At the beginning of his speech, Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, Minister of Youth and Sports, expressed his thankfulness to His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, for his permanent interest attached to the late leader Gamal Abdel Nasser’s Fellowship, which is a symbol of inspiration and victory, as well as his interest towards various Egyptian, Arab, African and international events, activities and participations, in which the whole world gathers under the umbrella of the country of peace and civilization, Egypt, which is full of people under the new republic.
Dr. Ashraf Sobhi stressed the Egyptian political leaders' support for youth, and that the Ministry of Youth and Sports seeks to enhance Egypt’s role in achieving the common vision, and strengthening relations with various countries of the world based on the vision of the Egyptian political leadership, explaining that the Nasser Fellowship for International Leadership aims to transfer the ancient Egyptian experience in consolidation and building of national institutions, as well as creating a generation of young leaders from Non-Aligned Countries with a vision in line with the South-South Partnership, raising awareness of the role of the Non-Aligned Movement historically and its future role, in addition to networking the most influential young leaders at the level of Non-Aligned Countries and friendly countries and activating the role of the Youth Network of Nations movement members.
Sobhi explained that Egypt is always keen to host many continental and international sporting events and hold forums in the presence of various youths of the world in order to strengthen cultural and civilizational ties between peoples, consolidate identity, uphold the principles of solidarity, and emphasize Egypt's leading role in the current period and on the plans for fruitful cooperation between Egypt And many countries of the world in different fields.
Hassan Ghazali, General Coordinator of the Nasser Fellowship for International Leadership, pointed out that the fellowship, in its third edition, aims to shed light on the role of non-aligned youth in developing South-South cooperation in light of a rapidly changing world and how to develop this cooperation through youth as an effective and sustainable mechanism with a focus on the role of women. The slogan of the fellowship this year was “Non-Aligned Youth and South-South Cooperation”, and the Non-Aligned Movement will be addressed historically and how to build a youth role for it in light of the recent state of international polarization in the international arena and the decline of the so-called unipolar system and the gradual transformation into a multi-polar system, as well as activating the role of the youth network of the member states of the Non-Aligned Movement (NYN) in facing the current challenges facing the youth of the member states of the movement.
