The Sport Development Department of the Ministry of Youth and Sports
The Sport Development Department, which consists of four general departments, is the General Administration of the Grassroots, Student Activities, and Public and Azharian Education. As for the General Administration of Quantitative Unions, it is the sector responsible for broadening the base of sport practice among youth through the implementation of national projects for youth, women and people with special needs. The aim is to encourage all citizens to practice sports and to provide them with the opportunity to practice sports and participate in sports events, considering all age groups. This would contribute to controlling modern diseases, educating citizens about the impact of sport practice on all aspects of life, adjusting national deviations, developing basic skills of people with special needs, and integrating the latter group into society through the practice of sport.
Among those activities are meetings organized for young men and women to play beach sports, to name but a few. These meetings were held in the training centers for beach volleyball in about ten governorates to spread the culture of beach volleyball among future generations, and to provide youth with the opportunity to practice a popular sport in atypical locations, as well as to increase their physical competence and utilize their leisure time.
In addition, the national project of cycling and training centers was implemented in cycling centers in all governorates of the Republic. Its aim was to replace vehicles that run on fuel by bicycles to reduce environmental pollution, increase physical competence of young people and utilize their leisure time.
