Mohamed Morsi was born on August 8, 1951, in Ash Sharqia Governorate. He received a Bachelor of Engineering from Cairo University with Excellence. He was then admitted to the university in 1975 and received his Master's degree in 1978. He received a scholarship from the University of Southern California and a Ph.D. in Engineering in 1982. He served as an Assistant Professor at the University of Southern California, and the Head of the Department of Materials Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Zagazig from 1985 to 2010.

He ran for election to the Parliament for the Brotherhood Party and worked as the spokesperson of the Parliamentary Bloc of the Brotherhood Party. Prompted by the Party of Freedom and Justice, he ran for the presidential election 2012.

On June 24, 2013, the Egyptian Presidential Election Commission announced the winning of Mohamed Morsi. His presidential period he was continued till he was impeached on July 3, 2013, after the 30th of July revolution which demanded his impeachment.

He died on June 17, 2019
